It may seem like an easy way to make some money, which is desperately needed by many students across the country but there are both positives and negatives to working as volunteers in Paid Clinical Trials like the ones from https://www.trials4us.co.uk/ and all of them need to be considered before making this decision.

Pharmaceutical companies are often on the look out for willing participants for a number of studies that take place each year. A clinical researcher will often be charged with recruiting and selecting volunteers for each study. Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages that you should way up before signing on the dotted line.

Positives

  • Good money – clinical studies often pay good money for 30 day studies and this can come in useful if you are struggling to make ends meet as a student.
  • Expense – your travel, accommodation and medical insurance needs are all covered by the organisation that you volunteer with.
  • Health benefits – if you are suffering with a particular condition that the drug could help with you may want to be a part of a study that results in a new drug that can help to treat your symptoms.

Negatives

  • Restrictions – you may find that you are restricted to a special diet and lifestyle for the period of the study.
  • Check ups – you will need to attend regular check ups throughout the study so you need to ensure that you have the time and ability to be able to do this.
  • Side effects – you could be subject to some not pleasant side effects and again you need to prepare for this.
