What is the point of Stormtroopers? I mean, sure, they look cool, there is the degree of style and menace going on but at the end of the day is the Empire/First Order’s budget being spent wisely? It’s all very well having this cool look as you thunder into battle but something has gone very wrong with their blasters or their marksmanship training. When they get back on the ship having had their backside handed to them on a plate yet again by the Rebel Alliance do they not start to question the tactics and tools they have to do their job.
I’d like to think that they get to take the helmets off and get changed into something a bit more casual, maybe get out one of their Farah Shirts that they bought online from https://www.ejmenswear.com/men/farah, back on the ship and have a chin wag. Blind obedience aside, do they ever have a moment of clarity like Finn does and think “hey, I’m just totally expendable here…”
Although it’s a cliche to say it, the Stormtroopers are terrible shots. Just watch the films, they pretty much have Han at point blank range on the Death Star and still miss. The problem is revealed by Luke when wearing one as a disguise, he clearly says “I can’t see a thing in this helmet!”.
