Check your Car Before you get Back on the Road

Auto

Over the last few months, many of us have not been using our cars anywhere near as much as we normally would – if at all! But as the country once again starts to open up and we all start to get moving once again, it is sensible to give your car a once over to make sure that it is safe to drive and so that you can spot any potential problems before they become serious, and you end up being towed away on a breakdown truck! To ensure your car is roadworthy, consult the experts such as this car servicing Gloucester company.

Here are some of the things that you should check on your car before you get back behind the wheel…

Windows – Give your car a good clean, especially if it has been sat a while – you will be surprised at how much dirt can build up, and this will improve your view from the car. Remember to also include mirrors when you clean.

Oil and Water – It is important to regularly keep an eye on your oil and water levels anyway, but especially if it has been a while since the car was used. Not having enough oil or water can cause serious problems for your engine which can be costly to repair.

Tyres – Tyres play an important role in keeping you safe on the road, as the way your car grips the road, and braking successfully are reliant on good tyres. Check your tyre pressure and tyre tread depth – the minimum should be 1.6mm across the centre. If your tyres tread is less, or you have another problem such as a slow puncture, you should get replacement tyres.
